This cream is so much fun, both to prepare and to enjoy! It tastes so good that you'll finish it in a heartbeat. It's not just delicious, it's also healthy: the chosen ingredients, including chufa flour, provide significant amounts of minerals, vitamins, fiber and relatively few fats. In addition, making the banana smile is an excellent game to play with kids.
Servings: 4 serving sizes - if you can stop yourself
Ingredients
- 0.65 cup oatmeal
- 0.20 cup soybean cream
- 3.5 oz dark chocolate (organic, fair trade)
- 1.4 oz brown sugar (Muscovado type)
- 1 tbs cocoa powder
- 1 tbs chufa flour
- 4-5 bananas
- 5 tbs hazelnut crumbs (optional)
Directions
Step 1
Choose a medium pot so that a small saucepan can fit. Place the pot with some water on the stove and warm it up. Meanwhile, put all the liquid ingredients from the recipe in a glass container and allow them to warm up a bit in hot water.
Step 2
Mix sugar, cocoa powder and chufa flour, and add them little by little to the liquid, mixing steadily with a whisk to smooth any lumps.
Step 3
Cut the chocolate into small pieces and place them in the saucepan. Remove the glass container with the ingredients from the pot. Place the saucepan with the chocolate inside into the pot with water, making sure not to get water into the saucepan.
Step 4
With a wooden spoon stir until the chocolate is completely melted. Add the ingredients together; from the glass container, and stir until a smooth consistency. Remove the saucepan from the pot and place it directly on the stove, stirring until the desired consistency is reached.
Step 5
Pour into a screw-top container without the cap and wait for it to return to room temperature, then close it and store it in the refrigerator.
Step 6
Dish composition: peel a nice curved banana and place it on a plate so that it looks like a smiling mouth; cut two round slices from another peeled banana and put them in the eye position; take some chocolate cream with a teaspoon and drop it on the round slices to form the pupils; drop other chocolate creams to create the tongue; with a toothpick, create the nostrils, ears and smile; complete with hazelnut crumbs in curly hair position.
Pro tip: Store the chocolate cream in the refrigerator for up to a week. Another way to enjoy the dish is to dip the banana in the chocolate cream and top it with hazelnut crumbs.
