Melatonin is a hormone your body produces naturally to manage your circadian rhythm. Your melatonin levels should rise at night based on external cues, such as reduced light and cooler temperatures. Those who struggle to fall asleep at night often show signs of melatonin imbalance. SleepBliss contains just the right amount of melatonin to remind your brain itโ€™s time to sleep. L-theanine is another key player in SleepBliss. It is best known as a compound found in green tea that helps moderate the jittery effects of caffeine. How does it work for sleep?


L-theanine is shaped similarly to the excitatory neurotransmitter glutamate, and can therefore fit into the same glutamate receptors in the brain. This blocks glutamate from creating an excitatory response and promotes relaxation and rest. Studies also show that L-theanine enhances GABA levels, which in turn increases dopamine and serotonin in the brain to stop anxiety and make you feel at peace.

Organic Chamomile Extract

Drinking chamomile tea for relaxation may seem incredibly clichรฉ, but the truth is that it works! Multiple studies have shown chamomileโ€”a flower in the daisy family, used therapeutically for thousands of years, by the wayโ€”effective in aiding relaxation and helping with anxiety, depression, and insomnia. A 2016 study published in Phytomedicine, for instance, found long-term chamomile use to significantly reduce moderate-to-severe symptoms of generalized anxiety disorders.


According to a 2013-2016 analysis from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, 48%โ€”nearly halfโ€”of Americans don't get adequate magnesium in their diets. And that's a big deal. Magnesium is involved in more than 300 enzymatic reactions in your body. Beyond promoting bone health, it also helps keep your blood sugar levels stable and blood pressure at healthy levels. But, most importantly, magnesium also affects your brain and mood. In other words: magnesium deficiency can make you feel tired, stressed, and moody. The exact opposite of relaxed. 


Thereโ€™s plenty of high-quality research backing its calming properties (plus, its divine, herbaceous floral scent doesnโ€™t hurt, either!) Curious as to how lavender โ€œtricksโ€ your brain into relaxing? Well, scientists believe that lavender may activate your parasympathetic nervous system. This is the part of your nervous system responsible for relaxation. As a testament to how strong lavenderโ€™s calming effects are, this 2010 study found that it could go toe-to-toe against a prescription medication for general anxiety. Here, researchers randomly divided participants into two groups. The first group took Lorazepam (i.e., the anxiety-reducing medication), while the second took an oral dosage of lavender oil, For six weeks. Both groups reported an almost identical decrease in anxiety at the end of the trial periodโ€”45% and 46%, respectively.

Organic Rose Hip Extract

You understand the appeal of applying rosehip oil to your skin. It may help increase collagen production and skin elasticity, promoting a glowing, youthful-looking complexion. That's clear. But taking rosehip extract (note: Sleep Bliss contains 20 mg of organic rosehip extract per serving) for relaxation? How does that work? To understand that, it'll be helpful for you to first know this: anxiety is thought to be correlated with a lowered total antioxidant state. Logically speaking, it thus stands to reason that antioxidant supplementation may help ease anxiety symptoms. And that's where rosehip extract comes in. Rosehip seeds contain high levels of polyphenols, carotenoids, and vitamins C and Eโ€”all of which have powerful antioxidant properties. Of note is vitamin C, which is known to reduce cortisol (aka โ€œthe stress hormoneโ€) levels, improve stress tolerance, and fight sleep deprivation. 

Organic Valerian Root
